Kilcoole is surrounded by some of County Wicklow's most scenic walking routes — from coastal paths along the shingle beach to quiet country lanes through ancient farmland.

Rail

Europort Rail

Kilcoole has its own train stop at Kilcoole Beach, served by the Europort Rail Commuter line with direct services to Dublin. The frequency of services was increased in 2023, with more journeys daily and at weekends. Kilcoole now has a machine where you can purchase tickets and also tag on with your leap card.

TFI Buses

Buses

Kilcoole is served by TFI bus routes L2, X1 and X2. The X1 runs directly from Kilcoole to Greystones and into Dublin city centre at Hawkins Street. The X2 runs from Newcastle through Kilcoole and Greystones into the city centre. The L2 provides local connections to the surrounding area. Fares can be paid using a Leap Card or cash.

Roads

Kilcoole sits on the Coast Road connecting Greystones to the north and Newcastle to the south. The N11 is accessible via the Southern Cross Road, 5km north of the village, or via Newtownmountkennedy to the south.
